THE GUIDE LIBRARY
A different panel shape, metal, finish, or attachment method can change both the work and its price. Ask what the change does for your roof and what else must change with it. Use this tool to record the original option, the alternative, and any price difference the contractor has actually quoted.
Ask what the alternative changes, why the contractor suggests it, and whether other materials or installation work must change too. A different product is not automatically better for every house; keep the explanation tied to your roof.
The way panels join or attach can change the installation work and related materials. Ask the contractor to explain the two options, why each is being considered, and what work is included in the quoted price difference.
Use real samples of the products being quoted. View them at the property, record the exact color and finish names, and ask about availability, care, and warranties. A screen color does not identify a particular manufacturer’s product.
Changing the panels may also change pieces around roof edges, vents, skylights, or walls. Ask which related materials and work change with the option and whether the quoted price difference includes all of those changes.
You are responsible for paying any insurance deductible.
It is insurance fraud punishable as a felony of the third degree for a contractor to knowingly or willfully, and with intent to injure, defraud, or deceive, pay, waive, or rebate all or part of an insurance deductible applicable to payment to the contractor for repairs to property covered by a property insurance policy.
It is insurance fraud punishable as a felony of the third degree to intentionally file an insurance claim containing any false, incomplete, or misleading information.
This website does not interpret your policy, file or negotiate claims, or promise coverage. A roofing contractor can document roof conditions and explain its repair estimate. Direct coverage questions to your insurer or an appropriately licensed professional.
